Services for Derek D. White will be Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 1 pm, at Stallings Funeral Home 401 S Dyer St Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
Derek D. White also known as “Lil Dofunny” was born December 25, 1962.
He is survived by his Wife: Melodie Dawn Mason White; One Step-Daughter: Megan N. Clarke; One Step-Son: Raymond “Michael” Clark Junior; Two brothers: Anthony R. Bell, and William D. Bell (Coffy) both of Elizabeth City, NC; One sister Karen Marie Perkins Harvey of Winston Salem, NC; Four uncles Jackie White (Jean), Ronnie White (Ester), Troy White (Pamela), and Ricky White, all of Elizabeth City, NC; Three aunts Helen Brumsey, Lessie White, both of Elizabeth City NC, and Diana Griffin (Earnest) of Hertford, NC; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father: Clifton Grizzell; his mother Carolyn W. Bell; William H. Bell (Dofunny); and One sister: Rhonda Bell.
Derek loved singing and playing instruments for church. While he loved playing the drums, his favorite thing to play was lead guitar. He played for groups and churches such as the Wonders of Joy, Mighty Clouds of Faith, the True Believers, New RamothGilead Choir, and St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a concrete finisher at Harold’s Construction Company. One thing he was mostly proud of during his life was that he was a member of Groove Phi Groove, he was known to them and everyone else as Freak Man. He was loved, and known by many.
