Helen Louise Perry, 86, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
A private Graveside Celebration of Life will be held in the Veteran's Section of Westlawn Cemetery of Elizabeth City at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 1, 2020.
A viewing is scheduled for Monday, June 1st at 2:00 PM at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 704 Cardwell Street, Elizabeth City, NC.
Helen Louise Perry was born in Pasquotank County, North Carolina on December 30, 1933. She was the first of five children born to the late James and Mattie Franklin in which her brother Lee Ernest Franklin preceded her in death.
Helen Louise Perry was united in matrimony to the late Lee E. Perry, Sr. in 1953 and to that union three children were born in which a son Lee Ernest Perry, Jr. preceded her in death.
She joined Mary Holly Grove, AME Zion church upon marriage and then later returned to the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devoted member faithfully attending and serving as mother of the church and as a deaconess until her health would no longer allow.
On Tuesday, May 26. 2020 at her granddaughter’s home in York, South Carolina, she slipped away to join her loved ones at a better place that God has prepared for her.
With loving memories, she left: her son, Robert Levy Perry of Elizabeth City, NC and her daughter Mattie Perry Johnson of Durham, NC; Six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one god son. Three sisters, Sadie M. Billups, Jessie L. Barclift both of Elizabeth City, NC and one brother Larry Franklin (Beverly) of Elizabeth City, NC. One son-in-law, Dr. Ernest H. Johnson and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Stallings Funeral Home of Elizabeth City and Wright Funeral Home of South Carolina are in charge of arrangements.
