Mattie Ann Armstrong

Mattie Ann Armstrong was the daughter and only child of the late George Edward and Mattie (Towe) Armstrong. She was born June 27, 1958 and departed this life Friday, June 28, 2024 at ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville, NC.

Mattie Ann received her education from Perquimans County Schools and possessed a high skill level and knack for mathematics. At a very young age Mattie Ann began assisting her dad in the family business where she was in charge of maintaining the finances. Her dad lovingly
called her “Boss Lady” because she was simply good at what she did. She was truly the apple of her daddy’s eye!

In her adult years, Mattie Ann proudly held the position of key holder and supervisor at a local supermarket chain. She ensured that at the end of each day everything balanced and was secure before she left the store.
In her times of leisure, Mattie Ann enjoyed being on the softball team (her younger years), solving fill-in puzzles, playing cards, fishing, and cheering for the Washington Redskins.

The legacy and memories of Mattie Ann will be cherished by: two half- sisters, Essie Davis (Wilbert) of Southern Pines, NC, and Pamela White (Thomas) Bridgeville, DE; two step-sisters, Velma W. Johnson and Shirley W. Graves both of Waterbury, CT; four step-brothers, Charles H.
Winslow and John M. Winslow both of Hertford, NC, Larry L. Winslow of Suffolk VA, and Percy Winslow of Maryland; one uncle, William Roosevelt Armstrong, Sr., of Hertford, NC; two aunts, Delois Armstrong Hawthorne of South Plainfield, NJ, and Willie Mae Armstrong of Plainfield, NJ; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Mattie Ann’s life and legacy will be held at a later date.

Stallings Funeral Home will be assisting the Armstrong family with excellence and care during their time of bereavement.
