Muriel Irene Barrow Spence, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home on February 5, 2023, with her loving family by her side.

Homegoing services will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at 1pm at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church, 506 York St., Elizabeth City, NC Pastor Ricky Banks officiating. 

Visitation will be Saturday February 11, 2023 from 5pm to 7pm at Stalling Funeral Home.

Muriel Irene Barrow Spence is survived by three sons, WillieBass,TyroneBassSpence(AnnieRuthBaum)andDavid Spence of Elizabeth City, NC; 13 grandchildren, Shavonna Overton Blanchard (David), Torando Simpson, Dannette Bowe, Sherika Overton, Brandon Niles, Sheray Spence, Anthony Leathers, Shennell Spence, Antonio Whidbee, Nicholas Whidbee (Tashema), Corneil Spence, Tairina Spellman, and Jahron Spence (Sarah); 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.; bonus grandchildren Brittany Kamrowski, Larry Stewart, Jessica Brothers, and Ashley McClease; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins, all of whom she loved and touched deeply.

Stallings Funeral Home will be assisting the Spence family with excellence and care during their time of bereavement.
